Product Care

At Garstin 1871 we truely believe in making the finest products we can. The materials we choose mean we are confident that our goods will last a lifetime. We do this by using the finest Italian leather and British suede, and by using solid brass hardware as used by the Royal household.

Each bag is also made by one of the most accomplished leather craftsmen in the Britain who has made exquisite leather goods for King Charles no less.

This makes us confident in offering a Lifetime Promise. That lifetime promise is to fix and mend any faulty Garstin 1871 product, providing that it has been newly purchased through the Garstin1871.com website or any official retail partner with proof of purchase. We do not guarantee second hand or goods purchased on 3rd party reseller websites.

The lifetime promise is designed to give you confidence in not only the materials we have chosen, but also the craftsmanship that has gone in each product. This also a fair ware and tear We do though reserve the right to determine if a product has been cared for well. If it has been subjected to heavy usage thus showing signes of natural wear and tear through this usage we may not be able to offer the lifetime promise. We will of course review each issue on a individual basis and give a fair assessment. If we believe the issue has been caused by misuse v a manufacturing defect we may be able to offer a paid repair service at a reasonable rate to you.

Please simply email us on contact@garstin1871.com with a description and pictures of the issue that requires fixing. Please quote your order number we will then get back to you on next steps.

If the product with the issue was purchased within the last 12 months we will cover all associated costs of sending it to our workshop and back to you repaired. After 12 months there wll be a charge but we will discuss with you in person and work on a cost effective solution.

We only use the finest Italian vegetable tanned leather from a small family run tannery in Tuscany. This premium leather will age beautifully over time and develop it own unique patina. The natural oils in the leather mean the scuffs in daily use should be buffed out by simply rubbing your thumb along them. If you want to use a leather conditioner use a natural beeswax balm.

Our Englsih brass hardware will also patina over time which will add to the character of the satchel, you can of course polish then to keep them shiny with quality brass cleaner. Be careful not to get any on the leather as this could discolour the leather.

Your satchel comes with a dust bag and we advise to keep in it whenever you are not using the satchel as it will keep it in splendid condition.

When you buy a product from Garstin 1871 we want you to feel like you are also making the right choice for the environment too. That is why we believe in buying better made products that last longer. Buy Less but better is something we wholheartedly believe in and as such each bag is made by hand using traditional skills.

Unfortunately, with any business we still have an impact on the environment but we attempt to make that footprint as small as possible. This includes making in small batches as not to waste raw materials.

Our promise is to constantly review our own green credentials and make improvements where and when we can because it is up to all of us to help the environment.
